The only thing that remained unchanged was Win This change in power options has worked for me. Show 8 more comments. Mark Tolman. If your motherboard has an onboard graphics card you might want to try unplugging your PCI-E graphics card and plugging a monitor into the onboard graphics card.
This will verify whether or not it is your PCI-E graphics card that is faulty or not. I talk with my techers and they tell me to remove the PCI graphic card, clean the contacts, with an ruber and a brush with soft bristles , and put that again, and now are working normally. Had the same problem and it ended up being a bad memory stick.
Try removing the memory and see if you get the error beeps. If so then try one stick at a time and see if that solves the problem.
Tried everything except replacing parts , then solved the problem by vacuuming the air vents and then took off the lid and vacuumed the fan area and memory sticks. No issues for weeks now. I'm guessing there is was kind of incompatibility between my motherboard and this particular Windows setting.
Dean Overton. I have had similar problems - main monitors not lighting up - BUT this morning after reseating graphics card etc - still nothing - I then turned the monitor - which was ON, turned it OFF, and after a couple of tries it DID show the screen and allowed me to log -i n.
Jackie Lombardi. I'm having this same problem and I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried a different GPU - no signal. Bought different ram - no signal. Tried a new motherboard - no signal. New CPU - no signal. I am stumped as to what the issue could possibly be. Assuming that your problem is also "Monitor no signal after start up" as per the thread. You didn't say if you tried your monitor on a different known working PC to check if it worked OK, a different known working monitor or a new monitor cable or even a different video output signal type if available e.
Basically prove the fault to be in the monitor or the PC. So far from what you said you concentrated on the PC only. The first day it stopped working I tested the monitor on another computer and it worked fine, and HDMI is the only output signal type I have to work with. I tried two different motherboards - both of them seem to work fine but I get no signal.
I tried two different CPUs on both motherboards and no signal. I tried a different GPU and no signal either, which I had to return. I also tried new RAM and still nothing. The only thing left I haven't tried is a new power supply, which I'm waiting on, but it doesn't seem like that's the issue because the PC appears to start up as normal and stays powered on, but I'm just getting no signal to my monitor.
Have you tried starting in "safe mode" to check if you get a display or not? On the two new motherboards that you tried did they have onboard graphics or were you always trying a graphics card? If you can get a display with the BIOS menus that at least proves the hardware. It then also appears like it is a Windows problem. Both of the motherboards that I tried have integrated graphics, but I've never been able to use them for some reason so I'm unable to tell now.
The second one I got is a biostar tbBTC. The bM is the one I'm currently using because it seems that it's working fine, and both motherboards are returning the same results.
Upon removing the HDD, the same thing is happening. I just can't get any signal on my monitor. I'm running Windows 10 and if I'm getting into bios or safe mode I can't see it. I do know that before it went out the first I heard the device disconnected sound, so I'm not sure if that info helps at all? I've swapped out every possible part besides the psu which I'm gonna get next weekend at this point and I just can't figure it out.
Sorry if I'm repeating myself but I've been dealing with this for a couple of weeks and my patience is so thin at this point. Show 2 more comments. Phan Tom. Did you completely reset your hdd or did you just unplug it, I tried the comment where you go to control panel and search the power option and turned off fast boot up. This fixed my problem but I feel like my pc is slower and I just built it.
It has,. Big Mind. I solved this issue by swapping my PSU with a new one. I did everything from reseating the RAMs and unplugging all the cables. Turned out, the 8 pin cable was broken. Switching them from one HDD to the next. It's booted up once. When it was booted up, it only showed one drive. Said I would need to format the other. I tried to format and it said windows could not format the drive. Does this sound like a hardware or software issue? Perhaps one or both of my hard drives fried along with the power supply?
Will the board POST consistantly now? If so then I'd probably look at clearing CMOS just to make sure the board is running at default settings. Your board manual should have the procedure, but if it doesn't or the manual is AWOL then I'd disconnect all harddrives except for the one that has your OS on it for the time being preferably connected to SATA 1 plug Then: Remove power from the system. Hit the power button to discharge the capacitors. Move the CCMOS jumper to the clear position or lightly bridge the header pins with a flat bladed screwdriver or similar Remove the battery from the motherboard.
Do something else for an hour. Replace the battery. Place the jumper back in the normal position if jumper block is used. If all that goes according to plan but you still can't boot from the harddrive then you may be able to do a repair install of the OS. I'd cross that bridge once I'd got to it. Good luck. Thanks Dividebyzero, I followed your instructions, I am now getting a "Boot disk failure, insert setup disk and press enter". I haven't yet tried reinstalling from the disk Last night, I was able to log all the way twice.
Only problem was that I could only see my files on one of the HDDs. I tried the format the other one and I got an error. I can no longer log all the way in. Do you expect that the problem is hardware related? Software related? Or both? This system is about 5 years old. Do I need to replace HDDs, mobo or both? Thanks again. Are you able to get to the Windows desktop? If so then it sounds like you may have a corrupted harddrive.
You could possibly try to repair XP. Harddrives are very susceptible to voltage changes, in which case installing XP to new drive would probably be the best option and then afterward attempt to recover your files off the other drives. Yes, I was able to get to the Windows desktop a few time Windows 7. Not working anymore with either drive. I'm not too concerned with many of the old files. Is my best bet to get a new HDD? Do you suspect any other issues? If the board will POST successfully without a harddrive attached i.
If they are I would probably buy another harddrive and reinstall WIn7.
